[ARCHIVED] Road Work Update

We have completed the entire proposed paving program established when we requested funding for the program. We continue to backfill new curbing with Silver Birch completed and Fox Hill to be completed on Monday. We will then move up to the Willow Lane area and hopefully will be finished by next Friday. The Roads that were paved but did not receive new curbs will be finished last with some minor work and touch up along the road edge.
We have benefited from the lowest asphalt pricing since I have been Director. As an example, my first paving job on Kelseytown Bridge road cost $120 for every ton of asphalt placed on the road. This year we are paying $68 dollars a ton for the same work. We budgeted $80 dollars a ton for this work and as a result, we are planning a phase three paving program for this fall. This will be a maintenance program which will include shimming and overlaying several major roads and some smaller roads. This work is above and beyond the original road program. We will provide more information when we get closer to the work dates.
