[ARCHIVED] COVID-19 Update on Face Masks

In response to the continuing spread of COVID-19, especially the more infectious Delta variant, Governor Lamont issued Executive Order 13A which provides cities and towns the option of requiring indoor masking in public places which can include places of business.

The Connecticut Department of Public Health and the Center for Disease Control have recommended that all Connecticut residents wear masks indoors, regardless of their vaccination status.

An indoor masking requirement was put into effect at Town Hall on Monday, August 2, 2021.

At this point, the level of community spread of COVID-19 in Clinton does not warrant putting a local, indoor masking mandate in place.  Businesses should take their own actions to create a safe environment for their customers and refer to Centers for Disease Control guidance.

Vaccination against COVID-19 remains the best step to halt the spread of the virus.  Contact tracing continues to show that exposures come from large gatherings and travel to States with higher rates of COVID-19 spread than Connecticut.

The Town will continue to monitor rates of infection in Clinton and consult with the Connecticut River Area Health District as appropriate.
