[ARCHIVED] Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Memo from the Town Manager

Memo from the Town Manager,

One of the key roles for local government is to act to ensure public safety and health.  Public health has come under more and more pressure recently given the nation-wide spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The State’s response to the spread of COVID-19 remains fluid and is evolving daily.  At this point, the State is focused on minimizing the impact of the virus.  Minimizing the impact has taken the form of establishing “social distance”.  Specifically, guidance at present from the State is local governments should critically evaluate events which will attract large groups or groups of at-risk populations (seniors over 70).

Due to the nation-wide spread of the Coronavirus and under the direction of the local Health Director and local Emergency Management Director the Town of Clinton has canceled special events at Town Hall through the end of April. The direction from the Health Department at this time is to have all large events canceled at least through the end of April.

We are in constant contact with the state and guidance is being issued regularly on different areas of concern.

As new directions come forward, the Town will respond accordingly with the local Emergency Management Team.  We appreciate your patience and understanding as we move forward to ensure public safety and health.
