[ARCHIVED] ***Important Update to the CT Department of Public Health Advisory***

The CT Department of Public Health (DPH) has provided recommendations related to the Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) virus.

The CT Department of Public Health States: “EEE is a rare but serious and potentially fatal disease that can affect people of all ages,” cautioned DPH Commissioner Renée Coleman Mitchell. “Using insect repellent, covering bare skin and avoiding being outdoors from dusk to dawn are effective ways to help keep you from being bitten by mosquitoes.”

Therefore, in consultation with our regional Health District (CRAHD) related to the recommendations, the Town of Clinton Parks & Recreation Department and the Clinton Public Schools are taking action to reduce the potential exposure from dusk to dawn for students and children participating in outdoor activities.

This newly established policy regarding all practices and games dictates that ALL FIELDS WILL BE CLOSED EACH DAY FROM 6PM UNTIL DAWN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

As an additional reminder, all residents should take measures to prevent mosquito bites, including avoiding being outdoors from dusk until dawn, wearing protective clothing, and using repellents prior to participating in any outdoor activity.
